What is beer football?
Beer football is a table game that plays like a football drive on a pong table. Two-player teams shoot at an inverted six-cup triangle and try to clear it within four downs for a touchdown, with field goals, punts, sacks, interceptions and overtime along the way. The Beer Football League (BFL) is the rule set these games are played by, and this page is the league's stat sheet and manager.
What this app does
- Add two-player teams and generate a full regular-season schedule.
- Type the final score after each game — standings update automatically, sorted by win differential, then point differential.
- Track shooting live if you want: log each player's hits and misses with keyboard shortcuts (Q/A and W/S for the home players, O/K and P/L for the away players).
- Seed a single-elimination playoff bracket (top 2, 4 or 8 teams) from the standings.
- Keep the whole season saved on this device, and share it with a season code.
How a game works
- Setup: two players per team, six-cup inverted triangles at each end, two twenty-minute halves and two balls in play.
- Offense: four downs (shots) to clear all six cups. Teammates alternate shots, each cup made is a first down, and there are no re-racks. Miss four in a row and you turn it over on downs.
- Scoring: after a touchdown, kick the PAT or go for two. Once you're in scoring range, field goals are worth three.
- Defense: a one-handed catch off a cup is a sack; a one-handed catch of an airball is an interception.
- Overtime: college-style — both teams start in scoring range with three cups.
The full official rules are one tap away under the Rules button.
Playing without alcohol
Fill the cups with water and play for the standings. The stat sheet works the same no matter what's in the cups.
FAQ
Do I need an account? No. Your league saves in this browser on this device.
Can friends enter scores for the same season? Yes. Share a season code from the Teams tab and they can load it. Each code is a snapshot, so the most recently loaded code is the one that sticks.
Can I skip the shot tracking? Yes. Just type the final score after each game and the standings and bracket fill in on their own.
